Version of October 2, 2026 · revision 2. This document contains the published conditions for this destination; the individual purchase data, including total price and agreed delivery time, are part of the order confirmation.
José Luís Santos Monteiro, owner of Montarion Universe, Portuguese tax number NIF 271034378. Address and returns address: Rua Sousa Pinto, 199, 1.º E, 4250-481 Porto, Portugal. Email: montarionuniverse@gmail.com. WhatsApp: +351 969 091 148 (messages only).
After payment confirmation, production may take up to 8 calendar days to begin, although a shorter waiting period is normally expected. The Lulu Direct or Cloudprinter production and delivery estimate shown before payment runs from the start of production and does not include these waiting days. The total timeframe is therefore up to 8 calendar days of preparation plus the production and shipping estimate for the selected destination and shipping method. This estimate does not limit statutory rights in case of delay or non-delivery.
Printing a standard book only after an order does not by itself remove the right of withdrawal. The statutory personalised-goods exception applies only where a book is genuinely made to the customer’s specifications or clearly personalised.
The shop uses Shopify for purchases and Moloni for invoicing. Books are printed and shipped through Lulu Direct or Cloudprinter according to the order and destination. The seller is the owner of Montarion Universe; these providers do not replace the seller’s responsibilities towards consumers.
Before confirming a purchase, you can review the book, edition, language, quantity, address, currency, total price, taxes and shipping, correct your information and read these terms. The final order control must make the obligation to pay clear. Available payment methods and the time of charging are shown at checkout. Confirmation identifies the order and agreed terms in a form you can retain; a payment receipt does not replace contractual information. Subsequent changes require agreement and do not reduce statutory rights.
The total timeframe shown before payment includes preparation, production and transport. A timeframe longer than a statutory default requires prior information and agreement; a printing estimate alone is not the total delivery timeframe. If we cannot meet it, we inform you of the situation and applicable rights to agree a new timeframe or cancel with a refund. Silence is not treated as agreement. You may notify withdrawal before receiving the book; if it has not been shipped, there is no book to return.
José Luís Santos Monteiro handles purchase support at montarionuniverse@gmail.com or through the contact form, without an account. The form provides a reference and confirmation you can retain. Where applicable e-commerce rules require it, we acknowledge complaints within 48 hours and handle them within the statutory deadline, including the one-month deadline applicable in India. Cancellation and refund rights do not depend on photographs, prior authorisation or complaining to the printer. The seller address is on this page; we arrange seller-paid returns where required. Do not send books directly to the printer without an appropriate return address.
Each purchase covers the selected books and quantities, without a subscription or automatic renewal. Before payment, the currency, total price, applicable taxes, delivery costs and other known charges are shown. If a charge cannot reasonably be calculated in advance, its calculation method and the possibility of that charge are explained. Paid extras require express agreement. The book language is identified separately from the website and contract languages.
You can open, save and print the conditions and forms for your destination. Individual order confirmation must include the order details and the version of the terms applicable to the contract, in a format you can retain. Later website changes do not retrospectively change your contract. You may request a copy or clarification from the seller without creating an account. An invoice is separate from contractual confirmation.
The seller being established in Portugal does not remove mandatory protection under the law applicable to your purchase. No term imposes exclusive Portuguese jurisdiction or prevents access to competent authorities and dispute resolution bodies. Where a commercial term conflicts with an applicable mandatory rule, that rule takes priority.
Mandatory rights depend on the province or territory. In Quebec, we do not impose foreign courts or require a waiver of local rights.
For applicable direct purchases, immediately after the transaction, we send—along with the individual order confirmation—a copy of the contract that can be retained, as well as the terms applicable to the destination. The confirmation identifies the seller, the consumer, the date, the books, the prices and charges, the total amount, the payment details, and the agreed delivery. In British Columbia and Quebec, the statutory deadline for delivering the contract copy is 15 days; our commitment to immediate dispatch is more favorable. Specific rules for the other provinces and territories continue to apply.
We do not offer an automatic voluntary return policy for simple changes of mind. Cancellation rights specific to the province or territory remain in effect, including those arising from a lack of information, failure to provide a copy of the contract, or failure to deliver.
In Quebec, certain deficiencies regarding information or the contract allow for cancellation within 7 days of receiving the contract; failure to send the contract allows for cancellation within 30 days of purchase. Failure to deliver within 30 days of the agreed date—or the date of purchase if no date was specified—allows for cancellation prior to delivery.
Under Quebec law, a full refund is due within 15 days of cancellation. The book must be returned within 15 days of the cancellation notice (or within 15 days of delivery if that occurs after the notice), at the seller's expense. These timeframes are not contingent upon a prior inspection. In other provinces, the applicable local regulations remain in effect and are not superseded by Quebec's timeframes.
In British Columbia, upon the legal cancellation of a distance contract, we provide return instructions within 15 days of the notice. If we fail to provide these instructions, the consumer is exempt from the obligation to return the item under Section 51. We bear the reasonable cost of the return. For returns by mail, the item is deemed returned at the time of shipment. A full refund, without deduction, is due within 15 days of the cancellation notice—or, if a return is legally required and instructions were provided, within 15 days of the actual return if it occurs later; we do not wait for the item to arrive by mail when the law deems it returned upon shipment.
You may contact us to request an exceptional voluntary return. Conditions are communicated prior to the return; a request does not constitute acceptance.
We send confirmation when the refund is processed. The time before the money becomes available in your account or on your card depends on the payment method and may be days or weeks. This banking delay does not change the deadline by which the seller must issue the refund.
Protection against defects depends on the province or territory and includes statutory warranties regarding quality and durability. In Quebec, the reasonable lifespan of an item depends on its nature, price, and conditions of use; it is not automatically limited to 14 days or to the terms of a commercial warranty. A return due to a change of mind differs from a mandatory remedy for a defect.
The department responsible for support and complaints is managed by José Luís Santos Monteiro. You may contact montarionuniverse@gmail.com or use the website form—without creating an account—by providing details of the order, the issue, and the desired resolution. Filing a complaint with the seller does not preclude legal recourse to competent authorities or courts. There is no clause mandating the exclusive jurisdiction of Portuguese courts to the detriment of your statutory rights. For cross-border purchases, the competent body depends on the province or territory. In Quebec, the *Office de la protection du consommateur* provides guidance on online contracts and complaints. Where a French version of the contract is mandatory, it is provided before an express choice of another language; this English document does not replace that version.
Commercial data protection may be subject to PIPEDA and applicable provincial laws. The designated policy contact handles requests for access and correction, as well as complaints regarding service providers who process data on our behalf.
The data controller is José Luís Santos Monteiro, tax number 271034378, Rua Sousa Pinto, 199, 1.º E, 4250-481 Porto, Portugal; montarionuniverse@gmail.com; WhatsApp +351 969 091 148 (messages only). Direct purchases involve your name, email, billing and delivery addresses, country, tax details when supplied or legally required, phone number when needed for delivery, selected books and editions, quantities, prices, taxes, shipping charges, order reference and status, payment, delivery and support correspondence. Required fields are identified during checkout. Without essential information we cannot complete or deliver the order; other information is optional.
Information needed to process the purchase, collect payment, produce and deliver books, send confirmations and provide support is processed for pre-contractual steps at your request and performance of the contract (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)). Invoicing, tax reporting, statutory retention and compliance with consumer rights are based on legal obligations (point (c)). Fraud and abuse prevention and defence of rights rely on legitimate interests in protecting the business and transactions, balanced against your rights (point (f)). Consent is not requested for processing essential to the contract or required by law.
The store uses Shopify to manage checkout and orders and Moloni to issue invoices. Payments are processed by the provider identified at checkout; do not send card numbers or security codes through the contact form. The seller receives transaction details needed to confirm payments, reconcile amounts and issue refunds; full card details are processed by the payment provider. To produce and deliver books, strictly necessary order and recipient information is shared with Lulu Direct or Cloudprinter, depending on the service actually used, and the production partners and carriers involved. They receive information necessary for their task, rather than general access to the customer’s history. In the standard Lulu Direct integration, the seller is controller of its order data and Lulu processes it on the seller’s behalf; using a printer does not transfer all seller obligations to Lulu.
Necessary information may also be received by hosting providers Sites/OpenAI and Cloudflare, email services used (Google/Gmail or Resend when enabled), authorised support staff and accountants or advisers subject to applicable duties. Tax authorities, courts or other public bodies receive information where there is a legal basis. Providers may act on our behalf or, for operations determined by law or their own services, as independent controllers. Payment, invoicing, delivery, return and complaint messages are service communications. A purchase does not subscribe you to advertising or newsletters; marketing based on consent requires a separate choice and can be refused or cancelled.
Invoices and necessary supporting tax records are retained for the Portuguese statutory period, generally 10 years, unless another legally applicable period applies. Operational order information is kept while fulfilling the contract and, after delivery, only as long as necessary for returns, guarantees, legal duties and possible claims or disputes, taking applicable statutory periods into account. Information no longer needed is deleted or anonymised. Support messages follow the contact form retention period: up to 12 months after closure, unless a documented legal duty or dispute requires longer retention. An erasure request does not remove records that must legally be retained.
Shopify and payment, production, delivery, hosting and communication providers may process information outside the European Economic Area, including when delivery takes place in another country. Transfers subject to the GDPR may only take place under an applicable basis: an adequacy decision, appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses and supplementary measures where needed, or a strictly applicable statutory derogation, including necessity to perform an international delivery requested by the customer. You can ask the controller’s email for information about destinations and a copy or description of applicable safeguards, with protection of third-party data and confidential information. Access is restricted to those who need information for their task and subject to appropriate security and confidentiality measures.
You can request access, rectification, erasure, restriction and, where applicable, portability or objection by emailing montarionuniverse@gmail.com. Where processing is based on consent you may withdraw it without affecting earlier processing. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests on grounds relating to your situation and to direct marketing at any time. Where applicable local law requires a faster response, we meet that deadline. We respond within GDPR deadlines, normally one month; any lawful extension is communicated with its reasons. You can complain to CNPD (www.cnpd.pt) or the competent data protection authority in your country without contacting us first. We do not make solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on customers; this does not describe independent providers’ own decisions, which they must explain in their notices.
Once checkout is available, cookies or equivalent mechanisms strictly necessary for the cart, session, security and payment may be used. Statistics or advertising requiring consent depend on the visitor’s prior choice. Site preferences do not automatically consent to optional tools in an external checkout; relevant information and choices must be available within checkout itself.
